About fall clean-ups:
-
Leave the leaves if they are from native trees as they will host insects over the winter.
-
Leaves from invasive species like Tree of Heaven can change the soil to prevent native plants from growing.
-
Only cut back plants that are going to cause problems by flopping over, like plants that might flop into a sidewalk. Otherwise, leave the stems and seeds for the birds over the winter.
