2023 Brookline Pollinator Pathway Group Events

The Brookline Pollinator Pathway took form in 2023 and began collaborating with the Town of Brookline and other Brookline community groups to spread awareness of and access to pollinator gardens that support and enhance the biodiversity and climate resilience of our community.

It was a busy first year of garden and event planning as well as public outreach.

Fall 

  • 11/12: Presentation to the Brookline Rotary Club

  • 11/12: Mystic-Charles pollinator group seed sharing

  • 10/24: Presentation at the Brookline Village Library

  • 9/10: Brookline Day

  • 9/4: Plant garden at Walnut and Juniper

Summer

  • 7/29: Brookline ParkFest

  • 6/13: Plant garden at Brookline Village Library

  • 6/13: Plant garden at Lincoln School

 

All Summer: Private garden planting and consultation

Winter and Spring

  • 5/20: Brookline SpringFest

  • 5/18: Plant garden at Naples and Gibbs

  • 1/20: Begin collaboration with Brookline DPW - Parks and Open Spaces

  • 1/8: Our first group meeting

2024 Brookline Pollinator Pathway Group Events

In 2024, we expanded our group and helped plant several more pollinator gardens on Town land in Brookline. We also hosted community tours and talks and gave away seedlings from our winter sowing.

Fall 2024

  • 10/20: Dog Day, sponsored by the Rotary Club, at Brookline Ave playground from 11-3pm. Tours of the Miyawaki forest.

  • 10/14: Indigenous Peoples Day from 1-4pm at the Brookline Public Health Building grounds

  • 10/8: Bus tour of the Miyawaki Forest on Brookline Ave and the Brookline Village library pollinator garden, sponsored by the Brookline Senior Center.

  • 10/7 from 7-8:30pm: Pollinator Pathway exhibit reception and meeting at the Brookline Village library

  • 10/6 from 11-2pm: Hall's Pond clean up.

 

All October: Pollinator Pathway Exhibit at the Brookline Village library

 

  • 9/18: Plant a pollinator garden at Runkle School.

  • 9/12: Pollinator garden tour and talk at the Coolidge Corner Library.

  • 9/8: Hosting tables in collaboration with Mothers Out Front at Brookline Day.

Summer

  • 6/27: Native Plant Pop-Up Sale at Brookline Farmers' Market

  • 6/6: Plant a new garden at Brookline High School

  • 6/3: Plant a new garden at Coolidge Corner Library

  • 6/1: SpringFest swamp milkweed giveaway

In June: Native plant seedling give-aways at the Brookline Farmers' Market

Winter and Spring

  • 5/8: Visit to a rooftop garden

  • 5/1: BHA Trustman Estates Community Day

  • 4/8: Plan a garden at Runkle School

 

All Spring: 

  • Making recycled plant pots & transplanting seedlings from winter sowing. 

  • Planning for summer garden maintenance.

 

  • 1/8: Winter sowing at United Parish Church
