South Street Circle

Even the smallest islands of habitat matter, and in a pollinator pathway, they connect to a larger network that supports bees, butterflies, and birds.

The South Street Circle pollinator garden was [planted in the summer of 2025 after a community member contacted the Town and the Brookline Pollinator Pathway group about how the traffic circle in her neighborhood could be made more beautiful and become part of the pollinator pathway supporting biodiversity in Brookline.

By dividing plants and using winter-sown seedlings, we were able to plant this garden very quickly, and just two days later, a monarch butterfly was spotted flitting around the different milkweed plants, possibly looking for a spot to lay its eggs.

Here is the native plant list for this pollinator habitat garden.
